Six questions to rekindle your sense of passion and purpose

There's science behind why we shouldn't look or seek to find our single passion in life, and I believe the phrase ‘find your passion’ itself now causes people anxiety.

However, it is worthwhile searching around for a sense of passion or purpose you might have in a number different areas to help you rekindle your spark.

Here are six questions to kick-off some personal discovery that provides material for a deeper exploration that can lead to getting clarity on one's direction:

  1. If you could donate £800k to one of the UN Global Goals, and then you have another £100k to donate to another, which two would you pick? What was your reasoning behind choosing those two and why did each get that amount?

  2. What in your childhood or background makes you show up in "work" the way you do now? And why?

  3. What quirky, unusual things do you do (that others don't) when you go on holiday/organise your home/spend time with friends?

  4. If you could go back to university and do any degree or study any course, what would you do?

  5. What societal issue would you like to see a positive headline about in the next 5 years? What would that headline say?

  6. What major life event can you remember that has really shaped who you've become today?

Answering any of of these, some curious follow-up questions might be needed - so keep examining why you wrote the things you wrote. I'm aware some might be quite challenging to answer first off, so maybe reflect on them overnight. But grab a journal to give these an honest go and I promise you they can yield surprising things that you may not thought about before.

Feel free to drop me an e-mail with any of your answers or reflections around them.
